2020 has been a stressful year, politics aside. But with the election over and votes still being counted, and lawsuits being filed, many Americans are going through Post Election Stress Disorder, no matter which side of the aisle you’re on. So, how do we move past this stress and live our normal lives? We have some tips to help you relax.

Unplug
Limiting screen time is a very important way to reduce your post-election stress. The news and social media are full of politics right now, so turning off your phone, TV, or laptop will do a lot for your mood. You won’t be focused on politics, and you can make some time for other activities!
Get Some Fresh Air
Fresh air and a PV cart are the perfect combo to cope with post-election stress. Sit out on your porch or take a nice walk to get your mind off of things. Put your headphones in and play your favorite music, or some calming classical piano if you can’t settle on a playlist!
Decide When You Check the News
If you must look at the news, make sure you choose a time that won’t affect your day. Don’t watch right when you wake up, or right before you go to bed. These times will affect your day or may cause a sleepless night. Set 15-20 minutes aside during the middle of the day to check the news. This will help you limit your consumption and not ruin your whole day or sleep.
Avoid Political Conversations
Whether at work or at home, people tend to talk about current events. Try and think of a few topics to change the conversation when someone brings up politics. Weekend chores, new series on TV, or a new food to try are a few to keep in mind.
Focus on the Wins
Even with the uncertainty of current events, the cannabis industry had some major wins this year. Four states, Arizona, Montana, and New Jersey, legalized recreational cannabis. South Dakota legalized cannabis for recreational and medical use, and Mississippi legalized cannabis for medical use. So, if you’re in one of these states, you can look forward to legally purchasing cannabis in the near future from a newly licensed dispensary!
