Weed hangovers have been a topic of contention for quite some time, as some people have them often, and others have never even heard of them. There’s conflicting studies on whether or not weed hangovers exist, but for people who have experienced them, they’re very real.

What They Feel Like

Studies have shown that consuming cannabis at any point in the day can lead to lethargy, irritability, and a general uncomfortable feeling the next day. While not many studies have been done, there’s lots of anecdotal evidence pointing to the unpleasant effects of weed hangovers. These effects can include fatigue, headaches, irritated eyes, dry mouth, brain fog, and inability to focus. All of these effects can lead to a very unproductive day.

How to Get Un-Hungover

When you search “how to get rid of a hangover,” a lot of the results are ways to prevent hangovers, but we’re not going to do that. We have a few tips to help get rid of your weed hangover when you wake up with one.

Get Moving

Getting out of bed and moving around might be the last thing you want to do right now, but it’ll help! Go for a nice, brisk walk. This will get you some fresh air and get your blood flowing, so you can walk off the hangover. Yoga is another great way to get moving! Make sure to focus on deep breaths and chest opening positions, so you can get as much air into your lungs as possible.

Breakfast

Breakfast will help fuel your body, so you’ll have energy to make it through the day. We recommend something nutrient rich, like avocado toast with pumpkin seeds and tomatoes, or something simple like Greek yogurt with berries. Any breakfast with lots of nutrients will help get through the slump!

Hydrate

When you wake up with a weed hangover, drink a large glass of water, your dry mouth will thank you. It will also help wake you up. Ginger or mint tea are great alternatives to water, as they’ll hydrate and settle your stomach.

Shower

Hopping in the shower can help wake you up and make you feel refreshed when you wake up with a cannabis hangover, and it makes it easier to get dressed and ready for the day. A hot shower can help open your airways with steam, so you can take deep, recovering breaths.
